The government, universities, and various organizations offer scholarships for school and university education to keep the costs of education as low as possible for students, particularly those from low-income families. Due to the rising expense of education, academically gifted but low-income individuals are sometimes compelled to drop out of high school and college. Even though they are academically gifted, some of these students lose up on their goals of going to college.
A similar dropout tendency is observed in college and university graduation, with only roughly 70% of Indian students completing their education. Fortunately, there are several scholarships available for worthy students.
Here is the list of the scholarships provided to the students by the governments and Universities.
1. GIIS Global Citizen Scholarship
To give worthy students a learning opportunity and a springboard to higher education, the Global Schools Foundation awards the GIIS Global Citizen Scholarship. Meritorious students from the area are eligible to apply for this scholarship. This GIIS scholarship pays for two years of on-campus housing at GSF as well as the cost of tuition.
Students may apply for this scholarship if they wish to finish Grades 11 and 12 at any of the GIIS campuses. For students in grades 11 and 12, the Global Citizen Scholarship is not available.
2. National Talent Search Examination (NTSE)
The National Council of Educational Research and Training, or NCERT, is responsible for administering the National Talent Search Examination, or NTSE. Academic subjects in science, engineering, medicine, and the social sciences are covered on the test.
Each year, roughly a thousand candidates are selected for examination for the scholarship, which is awarded until the Doctor of Philosophy, or PhD, in scientific and social sciences programs is completed.
3. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)
Established in 1999, the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana program, or KVPY program, is overseen by the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, or IISc Bengaluru. Students who wish to work in scientific research will benefit greatly from this scholarship.
Financial aid up to the pre-PhD level is provided to students who are determined to be eligible for this scholarship program. Through an aptitude test administered at several centers in major Indian cities, kids are selected for the KVPY program.
4. Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students
Students from underrepresented groups, such as Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians, and Parsis, can apply for scholarships from the Maulana Azad National Fellowship, or MANF. By not utilizing the JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET, this scholarship is available to students from minority communities who wish to pursue studies up to the MPhil/PhD degree in the arts, social sciences, technology, science, and engineering.
5. D.r APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship
The Global Schools Foundation offers the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship. It honors young children’s aptitude in the field of technology and the digital realm.
Within this scholarship, there are three categories: A, B, and C. There are many qualifying requirements for each category, which determine whether or not a tuition fee reduction is granted. Tuition fees for categories A, B, and C are discounted by 9%, 6%, and 3%, respectively.
6. Kind Scholarship for Meritorious Students
The Global Schools Foundation is the sponsor of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship. It acknowledges young children’s aptitude for technology and the digital sphere.
This scholarship is divided into three categories: A, B, and C. The qualifying requirements for each category vary, and a tuition price reduction is granted by those conditions. Tuition fee reductions of 9%, 6%, and 3% are available for categories A, B, and C, respectively.
7. CSIR Innovation Award for School Children (CIASC)
For creative young pupils, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, or CSIR, offers the Innovation Award, a scholarship specifically designed for school-age youngsters. Students who submit innovative, creative designs and technology project proposals to develop practical fixes for novel gadgets and procedures are given preference for the scholarship.
Students who win the scholarship will not only be eligible to receive cash rewards of up to INR 1 lakh, but they will also have the opportunity to participate in training and awareness sessions led by CSIR officials.
8. Vidyadhan Scholarship
One of the most popular scholarships offered by the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation (SDF) to students who have completed Class 10 is the Vidyadhan Scholarship. After a student completes Class 10, the foundation provides financial scholarships to pupils who demonstrate academic talent.
More than 1,500 students from states including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply for the Vidyadhan Scholarship each year. Pupils selected for the Vidyadhan Scholarship are eligible to receive INR 6,000 per year for Class 11 and Class 12.
9. Siksha Abhiyan Scholarship
The goal of the Modi Foundation’s scholarship program is to assist economically disadvantaged children in grades 8 through 12. Candidates may apply online for the scholarship on the official website. The top five rank holders will receive cash prizes ranging from INR 8,000 to INR 50,000. Indian citizens are required to apply.
10. National Scholarship Exam (NSE)
NICE Foundation, the National Institute of Career Education, is the organization that administers the National Scholarship Exam, or NSE. Identifying, nurturing, and assisting all gifted students in identifying their areas of strength and weakness are the goals of the foundation.
For students in classes 5 through 12, the scholarship exam is a great method to test their knowledge and win amazing cash rewards. The scholarship exam is open to students in classes 5 through 12, as well as those pursuing diplomas and degrees. Cash awards up to INR 35,000 are among the perks. Apply by August or September to be considered for the scholarship.
11. Bose-Einstein Scholarship Test
Monthly scholarships are awarded to students who complete the Bose-Einstein Scholarship Test, which is routinely organized by the JMMC Research Foundation. Research-based goods, workshops, and seminars are made available to the enrolled students who score highly on the scholarship exam. Scholarships totaling INR 36,000 per year are available to all students in Class 7 up to graduation. April and May are the deadlines for applications.
12. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards
Students up to the age of 17 are eligible to apply for the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards, which are given out annually by the National Innovation Foundation, or NIF. Children’s creativity is encouraged by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards.
The National Innovation Foundation strives to ensure that every child has the skills necessary to ensure India’s future is creative, inclusive, and inventive. The scholarship prizes are open to students in grades up to 12. Certificates of recognition, travel assistance, and financial and mentorship help are among the perks. The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards have an August application deadline each year.
13. CLP India Scholarship Scheme
The CLP India Scholarship Scheme, offered by CLP India, aims to give low-income students financial assistance with a concentration on girls. Every year, 850 students are chosen from across all CLP RE Asset locations for the scholarship program.
Students in the following states are included: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana, and Rajasthan. The scholarship offers annual benefits of up to INR 18,000, and applications must be submitted by May or June.
14. SRM University International Scholarship 2024
Formerly known as SRM University, SRM Institute of Science & Technology (SRMIST) offers up to 100% scholarships to overseas students studying a range of diploma, undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate courses.
